Dr. Lori Lovell, Director

Lori Lovell, Lyric Soprano, holds the degrees Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Ohio University, and Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University in Voice Performance. She has studied with Paul Kreider, Marjorie Bennett Stephens, Karen Peeler, and Christopher Michel. Lori is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has served in the offices of President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the NATS Las Vegas Chapter. Lovell's professional affiliations also include ACDA, FMEA, MENC, and the College Music Society.

Currently, Dr. Lovell is the Director of Choral Activities at Maitland Middle School within the Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida. Her students have consistently earned Superior ratings in solo and choral music performance assessments at the district and local levels. Her choruses have also been featured in world premiere performances at Carnegie Hall, the Riverside Church in NYC, and in performances with the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition to public school teaching, Lovell has served on the voice faculty of Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Dr. Lovell has also served as the Artistic and Musical Director of the Bach Festival Society Choral Academy of Winter Park. Lovell has also taught on the faculty of the College of Southern Nevada as a Voice and Music Appreciation instructor, and was instrumental in the development of their online Distance Education music program. Lovell has also taught for the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, Ohio University, and West Virginia University - Parkersburg.

Dr. Lovell has done extensive research into the songs of American composer, Richard Faith. A sampling of her performance credits include major works and operas by Beethoven, Barber, Handel, Mozart, Menotti, Léhar, and Bernstein. In addition to being a frequent recitalist and guest soloist, Lori can be heard as Sara Quint in the premiere recording of The Ghost of Miles Quint.
